A Lubbock Man Fakes Chest Pains to Get Out of Arrest for Assault
A Lubbock man has been arrested after evading arrest and assaulting an officer. The Lubbock Police Department responded to a call of a domestic disturbance in the 3300 block of East Cornell Street. Once police arrived at the residence they encountered 19-year-old Jason Tijerina with a bloody nose and red marks on his face and neck. KAMC news reported that Tijerina was hostile and refused to answer any questions from Lubbock police but would respond to questions by just saying "f*** you" to officers on the scene.
While an officer was outside of the residence reports state that yelling could be heard coming from inside. An officer stated that Tijerina then lunged at one of the responding officers causing police to try to arrest him but Tijerina resisted arrest. Eventually Tijerina was subdued and arrested by police. Soon after being handcuffed is when he began to complain of chest pains and was then transported to University Medical Center. The medical staff at UMC was able to determine that Tijerina was not suffering from any conditions and he was taken back into police custody.
After being put in the medical clear he was taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center and charged with Assault of a Public Servant, Resisting Arrest Search or Transport, Public Intoxication, Failure to Make Written Report of Accident to DPS, Possession of Marijuana and Evading Arrest. As of the publishing of this article Tijerina is curretly being held in the Lubbock County Detention Center on all 6 charges with a combined bond of $10,0000.
