There are around 20 Dollar Generals locations in Lubbock, and some are getting a brand new look inside.

This week, the Dollar General store at Milwaukee and 19th Street had a huge sale and people weren't sure why. Apparently, it's because they're about to undergo a major remodeling.

I talked with a employee at the store who said the remodel is to expand their food section and update their coolers to hold more products. She said the location at 1815 Milwaukee Ave. will close on Sunday, October 31st at 5 p.m. and reopen on November 4th. Don't worry, there are plenty of other Dollar General stores you can go to in Lubbock in the meantime.

We reached out to Dollar General's public relations and they got back to with us some answers:

We currently have one store completing a remodel this week at 2226 19th Street. Next week our store at 1815 Milwaukee Ave. will undergo remodel, which is expected to take approximately five days. In September, our store at 6409 Frankford Ave. completed a remodel.

The new look won't just bring more coolers for food, but also "new stylish, on-trend home décor and an expanded party preparation selection."

"We are constantly reviewing our stores to better serve our customers," Dollar General PR said. "We are remodeling these locations to maintain consistency throughout our store network, which we are constantly improving. We want shoppers at this store to have the same experience as shoppers in new stores featuring the latest décor and fixtures.

If you're sad you missed out on this big sale, don't fret. It looks like it won't be the last in Lubbock.

"We have one additional existing store slated for remodel early next year," Dollar General PR told us, adding that the store is on E 4th Street.

So, exactly what kids of savings are available during these preemptive remodeling sales? One local shopper told us she saw a ton of toys and clothes marked down to less than a $1, and she actually finished half her Christmas list as a result of the recent sale.

She got things like LEGO sets, Beyblades, dolls and so much more for super-cheap. She said she saved almost $300 on her trip. That's crazy, right? I know I missed this one, but I will not miss the next.

Keep an eye out for Dollar General stores near you getting a remodel. The employee at the Milwaukee location told me the best time to go is 7-10 days before the remodeling is set to begin because they already sell out days before they're set to close.
