2020 Census Continues, Local Census Employment Available [INTERVIEW]
On Thursday's edition of The Chad Hasty Show, Brenda MacDonald, Media Specialist for the U.S. Department of Commerce, joined the program to talk about the status of the 2020 Census, and the importance of each citizen's response as required by law.
While discussing the confidentiality of the census information, Hasty asked MacDonald about the safety of the personal information gained in the census. MacDonald responded, saying,
It is safe. It's protected by law, and each employee takes an oath to protect the personal information of any respondent. It's also not shared with any other agency, not law enforcement, not immigration. All the personal information is held for fifty seven years before it's released.
MacDonald also shared information about jobs that are available for local citizens who would like to apply. "We are still looking for people to help. It's really important for people from the community to apply because we would prefer to have people from West Texas...Yes we are still actively hiring," MacDonald said.
