Despite a month-to-month downward trend, The Lubbock unemployment rate rose from 5.2% in August to 6.1% in September. The Texas unemployment rate also rose to 8.3%.
The unemployment rate continues to decline in Texas, but the unemployed are still struggling. That could soon change though, with Gov. Abbott applying for federal funding.
The state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 12.8 percent in April. Lubbock's unemployment rate increased to 9.9 percent. Similar increases were seen all over West Texas, including El Paso's 14.8 percent and Odessa's 13.5 percent
