The second Levelland Animal Control Officer that was critically injured in a crash has passed away after being taken off of life support.

A Levelland man was sentenced to 55 years in prison plus a $10,000 fine for the May 2020 shooting death of 31 year-old Anthony Valderas Delgado.

Omar Soto-Chavira was officially charged with the murder of Lubbock County Sheriff SWAT Sgt. Josh Bartlett on Wednesday. Soto-Chavira was booked into the Hockley County Jail, hours after being released from a hospital.

Back on Thursday, July 15th, Levelland Police and the Lubbock Police Department SWAT Team were involved in a 10-hour standoff, and Levelland PD is now thanking the community for their supporting of wounded officers.

Soto-Chivara was arrested on five different offenses on June 29 and posted bail for $66,000 on July 11, four days before the deadly standoff in Levelland.

Lubbock County Sheriff's Office SWAT Commander Sgt. Josh Bartlett was killed Thursday afternoon. The suspect, a 22 year-old man, was arrested at 11:30pm on Thursday.

The standoff that started Friday afternoon in Levelland turned into a shootout in which four members of law enforcement were wounded. One of the four later died in Levelland

A man from Levelland was sentenced to more than 30 years in prison after he admitted to kidnapping a 9-year-old girl.

26-year-old Damien Gonzales is accused of kidnapping a 9-year-old from a birthday party being held just outside city limits.
