Lubbock Should Have Drive-Thru Testing Ahead of Local Outbreaks
Countries such as Germany and South Korea have implemented drive-thru testing in order to keep patients who are worried they have the COVID-19 coronavirus out of local hospitals. Here in the U.S., Seattle has already established several centers with drive-thru testing.
Lubbock has one of only six labs that are capable of testing for the virus as of March 5th, 2020. It would stand to reason that implementing drive-thru testing stations in Lubbock wouldn't take much effort or planning.
Hospitals wouldn't be overwhelmed with cases, and people would avoid exposure to other infectious contagions by being able to sit comfortably in their vehicle for a quick swab and notified by phone of the test results.
Is it time for Lubbock to consider staging drive-thru testing stations?
