Lubbock Health Department To Hold COVID Vaccine Clinic On Thursday
The City of Lubbock Health Department announced on Wednesday that there will be another COVID Vaccine Clinic on Thursday. The clinic will once again be held at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center Exhibit Hall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday.
Citizens can begin calling and signing up for appointments at 3 p.m. on Wednesday. Citizens can call 806-775-2933 beginning at 3 p.m. Citizens can also sign-up online on the City of Lubbock Health Department's website.
Those eligible for the vaccine fall into the 1A and 1B categories.
Citizens in the 1A group include first responders, last responders, and school nurses. Those in 1B include those 65 and older and those with medical conditions that put them at a higher risk. Those include:
People 18-64 years of age with at least one chronic medical conditions that puts them at increased risk for COVID, such as:
- Cancer
- Solid organ transplantation
- Chronic kidney disease Obesity and severe obesity (body mass index of 30 kg/m2 or higher)
- COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
- Pregnancy
- Heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease or cardiomyopathies
- Sickle cell disease
On January 4th, the City of Lubbock was able to vaccinate 1,288 citizens. So far 3,458 citizens in Lubbock have been given the COVID vaccine.
- December 28, 2020 - 365 vaccinations administered to those in Phase 1A
- December 29, 2020 - 532 vaccinations administered to those in Phase 1A
- December 31, 2020 - 1,273 vaccinations administered to those in Phases 1A and 1B
- January 4, 2021 - 1,288 vaccinations administered to those in Phases 1A and 1B
Vaccine clinics will continue next week according to the City of Lubbock.
