El Paso's epic party band, Fungi Mungle, recently added a member. The "new" Mungle is a world renowned musician from the 915.

Fungi Mungle are celebrating 30 years of bringing the funk to El Paso and beyond. With a slew of summer gigs planned for 2026, they are going to be super busy and their opening summer gig recently featured a surprise guest. A local rocker whose name is well known to rockers all over the world - John Moyer of Disturbed.

Fungi Mungle are El Paso's official party band. Mixing up funk, blues, soul, classic rock, crazy outfits, big ass afros and a healthy dose of humor,  they bring the party everywhere they go. Here's where you can catch them over the next few months.

Their recent gig downtown was another blowout, sold out, fun-fest. As usual.

Disturbed bassist John Moyer ... who, if you don't already know, is a dyed in the wool, homegrown, El Paso musician ... was in town visiting family and friends and he decided to see the show.

At one point, Fungi Mungle decided John shouldn't just watch the show, he should be part of it. When you're as wild and loved as Fungi Mungle, you can do stuff like that - they recently did a series of gigs with former Ministry, Overkill and current Pissing Razors drummer Eddy Razor behind the kit.

They called him up on stage, strapped a bass on him and voila - John's an honorary Mungle. Despite not having a loaner wig for him, John fit right in knocking out a killer version of Van Halen's cover of The Kinks "You Really Got Me".

When he's not out killin' it with Disturbed, John owns and operates Natural Ear Music School in Austin, plays with other bands and projects and produces other acts including upcoming music from former Queensryche vocalist/founding member Geoff Tate.

The Most Famous People You Didn't Know Were El Pasoans

These are just a few of the most famous El Pasoans to grace the earth. Some of them, like Alan Tudyk, have played so many famous characters, its crazy that we could ever forget they were El Paso born!
