As reported by KXAN, the situation happened on September 4, 2022. Day, who was located at the East Sixth and Brazos street intersection, came into contact with three unknown individuals. Shortly thereafter, a struggle occurred between the three people and Day.

In the ensuing fight, Day was stabbed, and the injury resulted in him passing away. Since that night, question have remained as to who the persons were that took Day's life.
