This cabin had to have been somewhere hilly in the area.  Maybe near Palo Duro Canyon or Bishop Hills?  No, it was Canyon, and it was located in what now is a very popular neighborhood.

This Japanese-inspired cabin belonged to Dr. Ralph Citron.  Dr. Citron was an orthopedic surgeon in Amarillo.

Dr. Citron passed away in 2006 at the age of 86.  He was born in Berlin and went to high school in Tel Aviv, Israel.  He was only 16 when he began studying at St. Batholomew's Medical School at the University of London where he receive his medical degree.  He moved to New York in 1945 and served as the senior orthopedic resident at Mount Sinai.  He eventually made his way to Amarillo and treated many patients who still have fond memories of the doctor to this day.

Scott Raef purchased the house from the Citrons. He mentioned that he had owned the cabin for 7 years. The cabin underwent renovations and had additional structures built. According to Raef, Dr. Citron was an army doctor during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan, where he developed a love for Japanese culture and architecture. Hence the design of the house.  Raef says took the gong when he sold the house.
