That's right, the forecast for portions of the South Plains, specifically Lubbock, calls for scattered showers and thunderstorms this holiday weekend.

With all of this incoming rain, it's important to keep an eye on high school football games around the Hub City! Some may be subject to delays, weather permitting.

The good news, for all you people made of sugar, is that rain chances drop off next week following Labor Day Monday.

Weekend Forecast

On Saturday, it's supposed to be partly cloudy with highs in the mid to upper-80s: perfect for Texas Tech's first football game of the season! Tech will gear up to face Abilene Christian on Saturday... Wreck 'em!!

Assuming there is no rain delay, you can enjoy a nice college football game without the annoying West Texas heat bearing down on you in the stands.

Sunday is lookin' pretty good as well and perfect for lazy-day relaxing at home with more chances of thunderstorms and highs in the mid-80s.

Then comes Labor Day! If you have any outdoor plans... well, just keep an eye on the weather channel and see if those plans accommodate indoor modifications...
