
Texas Prepares For a Massive Wind and Dust Storm With Wildfires Possible This Week
The weather across Texas has been pretty crazy the last week or so and that trend will continue this week. While temperatures won't be too bad this week, mother nature will be building up to Friday when we could see some really bad weather across the state.
This week Texans could experience a massive windstorm, dust storms, wildfire outbreaks, and even a chance of severe weather in East Texas at the end of the week.
Fire Danger in Texas This Week
Wind gusts on Monday and Tuesday will be breezy for the Western half of the state, including Lubbock. In fact, each day until Sunday this week, the fire danger map expands. Friday, most of the state could be under a fire danger watch, possibly an extreme fire danger watch.

As a reminder, don't do anything that could spark a fire this week and that includes throwing cigarette butts out the window.
Massive Wind and Dust Storm Expected in Texas This Friday
The weather event that has caught a lot of people's attention is what could happen Friday with the wind. A massive windstorm is expected to impact Texas and into Oklahoma on Friday. While forecasts could still change by then, forecasters are predicting hurricane force wind gusts for West Texas, portions of the Big Country, and even into the Panhandle.
The winds are expected to lead to dust storms in the region, possibly throughout the week, but especially on Friday. As of this writing, Lubbock is expected to feel wind gusts up to at least 65mph on Friday. The map below shows the forecasted wind gusts as of this writing.
The increase in wind across Texas on Friday will bring an increase to wildfire danger to a large portion of Texas.
Severe Weather Friday in Texas
The forecasts could change, but as of this writing there is a slight risk of severe weather in the eastern part of Texas.
