In fact, it's not just my recommendation, most of the Lone Star State will agree since these are some of the most common dishes served at public gatherings! Just thank Texas Real Food for these delicious dish ideas.
Texas Fourth of July Main Course
Where could I possibly start besides right at the beginning? You can't have a winning cookout without a main course to wow your guests. In Texas, you can't beat a smoked BBQ brisket.
The key to a perfect brisket lies within the seasoning. Don't go too overboard, but you should look into common options like brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, and chili powder when you really want to show off.
Small sides that pair excellently with brisket are coleslaw, baked beans, and potato salad, but do you know what else goes well with brisket? Ribs! BBQ ribs can be an excellent secondary option for the main course.
With a similar rub of spices and seasoning, ribs smoked with oak or hickory wood chips can provide the perfect fall-off-the-bone option for friends and family.
Texas Holiday Dessert
Before I get to the best go-to Texas dessert, let's talk about pie, Frito pie, that is. Yes, this simple food is super easy to make and is loved by so many. All you need is a large box of small Frito chip bags, some chili (NO Beans, obviously), some shredded cheese and some diced onions.

Now, if you want to get all fancy, you can add sour cream and jalapeno slices, but that's up to how much time you have before guests' stomachs drown out the conversations with their grumbling.
Finally, what better way to end a Texas holiday meal than with homemade pecan pie? There are countless recipes online if you don't already have a family style that was passed down from generations already.
Better yet, serve the pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream with each slice. Oh yeah, you can thank me later.
