I don't think Texas ever needs an excuse for good barbecue, especially when it comes to holiday cooking, but for those who are still deciding what to cook for the Fourth of July get-together, I've got the perfect go-to right here.

Where could I possibly start besides right at the beginning? You can't have a winning cookout without a main course to wow your guests. In Texas, you can't beat a smoked BBQ brisket. 

The key to a perfect brisket lies within the seasoning. Don't go too overboard, but you should look into common options like brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, and chili powder when you really want to show off.

Small sides that pair excellently with brisket are coleslaw, baked beans, and potato salad, but do you know what else goes well with brisket? Ribs! BBQ ribs can be an excellent secondary option for the main course.

With a similar rub of spices and seasoning, ribs smoked with oak or hickory wood chips can provide the perfect fall-off-the-bone option for friends and family.

Now, if you want to get all fancy, you can add sour cream and jalapeno slices, but that's up to how much time you have before guests' stomachs drown out the conversations with their grumbling.
