Severe Weather Season Returns To Texas, Here’s What You Need To Know

It is the start of a whole new month and while we haven't hit Spring just yet, one season is beginning to arrive. Severe Weather Season. Of course severe weather can happen any time of year. Even a big snow storm can be severe weather. But for many, when they hear about severe weather, the thoughts of storms, tornadoes, hail, and flooding come to mind.

For some parts of the state, the first few days of March could bring about severe weather. From the South Plains to the Big Bend, West Texas is in danger of "extreme fire weather conditions" through Tuesday. It's possible that could increase to a Red Flag Warning.

In other parts of the state, severe storms could cause issues Monday evening into Tuesday. According to the Houston Chronicle, severe thunderstorms could develop in Northwest Texas Monday evening. Southeast Texas could see severe storms Tuesday morning according to the report.

When Is Severe Weather In Texas?

Severe Weather can happen during any point of the year. But when thinking of tornados and hail, Severe Weather Season normally ranges from March until June.

How To Prepare for Severe Weather Season in Texas

1. Have a plan. Make sure everyone in your home knows where to take shelter in case of a tornado or other major event. A massive hail storm can be destructive and knock out windows.

2. Practice Safety Drills. Make sure your family knows where to go during a tornado at home, at work, and at school.

3. Stock Up on Essentials: Stock up on non-perishable food and bottled water. Get flashlights, and batteries. Purchase a first aide kit. Keep supplies together.
