Lubbock Police were initially called to North Loop and Interstate 27 at 3:25 a.m. on May 8, following an initial report of a hit-and-run with injuries, precipitating a response and investigation by LPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit. However, through preliminary investigation, it was determined the injuries the victim suffered were suspicious, prompting Metro to respond to the scene. Further investigation determined the injuries the victim suffered were consistent with a shooting instead of a hit-and-run resulting in the case being transferred to Metro.
