A Hot Start To Fall In Texas, But Relief Is On The Way
Let's be honest, while we are technically in the fall season, it has felt like summer except for a day or two here and there. This week, temperatures are again forecasted to be well above average. Add to that the dry weather we are having and it really starts to feel like summer.
Over the next few days highs in Lubbock are expected to be in the low to mid 90's including 95 degree on Saturday. The same forecast is projected for Dallas-Fort Worth. The forecast is even warmer in Abilene with highs in the mid to upper 90's this week. Amarillo will see slightly cooler temperatures but highs will still be in the 90's this week and into the weekend.
So across Texas this week and until about Sunday, just get ready for really warm temperatures.
But then, changes are coming.
According to the National Weather Service, Amarillo's high on Sunday will be 78 with a high Monday of just 72. Lubbock is forecasted to see a high of 88 on Sunday, then highs in the 70's all next week. Dallas-Fort Worth will see a high of 83 on Monday before seeing highs in the upper 70's to low 80's the rest of the week.
Is Texas Done With Hot Temperatures After This Week?
I'd love to say yes. But come on, this is Texas. Normally, the answer would be yes as the deeper we get into October the cooler it gets, but it wouldn't surprise me if it warmed back up again.
But don't worry. The cold fronts will come and eventually it will feel like fall. At least until winter blows in.
