The Lubbock Area United Way is gearing up to recognize some of the most dedicated volunteers in the Lubbock community at their Annual Meeting and Volunteer Recognition Luncheon on Monday, February 3rd, at 11:30 AM at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center Banquet Hall.

This event is more than just a luncheon—it’s a chance to celebrate the impact of giving and service in the South Plains! United Way will highlight its achievements from the past year, announce the final total for 2024’s annual giving campaign, and honor the outgoing board members while welcoming new leadership for 2025.

One of the biggest moments of the day will be the presentation of the Rita Harmon Volunteer Service Award to Dan Pope, recognizing his lifetime of community service. Other honorees include Bill Curnow of Plains Cotton Cooperative Association, named Campaign Volunteer of the Year, Jon Mark Bernal, awarded Community Impact Volunteer of the Year, and Gabe Vitela of Guadalupe-Parkway Neighborhood Centers, who will receive the Community Partner Volunteer of the Year Award.

If you’ve ever wondered how much local volunteers and organizations contribute to making Lubbock a better place, this event is proof that community service is alive and well in the Hub City!
