Despite the small break from the Texas summer heat we experienced in late July, the weather is back with a vengeance as it decides to scorch Lubbock with several triple digit days in the coming week.

August is known to be the hottest time of the year in Texas. The summer has been dragging on, everyone is starting to get tired of the heat, and the season decides to give its final salute with burning temperatures before fall arrives in September.

While we thought we might get a small break from the heat when things cooled down there at the end of July, of course it wouldn’t last long.

Starting on Thursday, August 15th, we are forecasted to see triple digits in Lubbock.

Starting at a high of 100 and climbing up to 105 on Monday, August 19th, you can expect to be spending lots of time in the AC or looking for ways to stay cool if outdoors. Thankfully, things will cool back off to 97 by Tuesday, August 27th.

This will be a great time to go swimming or play board games inside, but I highly suggest avoiding any strenuous outdoor activities if you can avoid it, like yard work, during this time. If you have to, be sure to hydrate, wear sunscreen, and cool off if you feel yourself getting overheated.

I am hoping things cool off pretty quick this fall so we can get past the summer heat and get into spooky season ASAP.
