There are so many tasty fruits and veggies out there to enjoy as a snack or a part of a meal. While we all try to do our best to buy and eat all this produce, we are often left with some that goes bad, and ends up in the trash.  

I am definitely guilty of buying produce expecting to use it quickly, but letting it go bad. While this can happen due to forgetting about it and leaving it to go bad, it can happen even quicker if not stored properly.

Fortunately, there are tips to help your produce last as long as possible, and that most often has to do with how you store it. You might assume all produce belongs in the fridge, but that isn’t always the case. 

So, here are some examples of what produce should be refrigerated and what should be left on the counter* or in your pantry at room temperature.  

*Keep in mind many of the room temp options should be refrigerated if they have been cut. They can also be refrigerated to preserve their ripeness.

One cut or peeled, these should be refrigerated. They can also be kept in the fridge to maintain a certain level of ripeness or slow down the ripening process.
