Summer Cool Down: Major cold front and rain headed for Lubbock

Lubbock has been scorched for the past week with triple digit temperatures. I know I am personally sick of sweating, blasting the AC, and avoiding the sun as if I’m a vampire that will instantly burst into flames upon contact.

Thankfully, Lubbock will be seeing quite the cool down in the coming days as a cold front and possibly some rain hits the Hub City.

We will feel a noticeable difference by the end of the week as the high will drop 10 degrees from 92 on Thursday, August 29th, to 82 on Friday, the 30th. The weekend will remain in the 80s with chances for scattered thunderstorms and showers.

By Monday, we will see the lowest high of this cold front with the temperature expected to not exceed the 70s. This is great news for those that plan to spend their Labor Day outside with their family. The only problem is that there is still a chance of showers that day, but hopefully it won’t ruin and grilling plans.

Unfortunately, it does look like things will warm back up heading into September with highs in the low 90s. We will keep our hopes up that we won’t exceed the mid 90s and only cool down as summer slowly hits the Hub City.

We all need a break from the heat, and this cold front is a blessing for those of us that love overcast weekends with a chilly breeze.
