Texas, Get Ready: This Summer’s Bringing Heat and Hurricanes
If you thought last summer felt unreal, you weren’t imagining it. It was officially the hottest summer on Earth since 1880 and based on early forecasts, Texas is in for another wild ride in 2025.
Summer in Texas: Heat Is the Headliner
Summer officially started on June 1, and if you’ve stepped outside, you know: it’s already coming in hot.
According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, July and August are expected to bring "above-normal temperatures" across most of the state. Which, let’s be honest… feels pretty normal for us anyway.
“July and August will bring above-normal temperatures across most regions, with only a few exceptions,” the Almanac predicts.
Of course, forecasts can shift, and 2025 has already proved that. The Almanac predicted drier-than-usual conditions, but recent flash flooding in parts of the Hill Country tells a different story.
Hurricane Season 2025: What Texans Should Know
The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30, and this year’s forecast is shaping up to be an active one.
Quick Hurricane Outlook:
- 17 named storms
- 9 hurricanes
- 4 major hurricanes
- Early August: peak landfall risk for Texas
“We anticipate an above-average probability for major hurricanes making landfall along the U.S. coastline and in the Caribbean,” said experts at Colorado State University (CSU).
Texans should stay weather-aware, especially heading into late July and early August, when conditions are expected to peak.
