Deep East Texan to the Core – I Don’t Do Winter Weather
Why do I live in Deep East Texas? There are tons of reasons. There are the obvious ones, like the fact that there aren't any huge metropolitan areas here. I'm not a fan of huge crowds, so that makes a difference. Also, less people means that you have a better chance at knowing your neighbors and the people you come into contact with - Yes, some people say that's a bad thing, but I like it.

Then there are other reasons, like the views. Ever since I was a little kid, I've been mesmerized by taking a walk into the woods and just taking the time to look around. The views here are awesome. Not only the trees and other foliage, but the wildlife. If forests aren't really your speed, the lakes and waterways provide those awesome views, too.
However, one other HUGE reason that I love living here in Deep East Texas is the weather. You can - usually - count on a really warm Spring, hot Summer, warm fall, and mild Winter. All this mess with ice and snow...nope. That is not something that I'm a fan of. I can do without that stuff. I don't mind cooler weather. I don't even mind temperatures dipping below that 32° point and staying below freezing for a while.

But what I do not - DO NOT - like seeing is any form of precipitation with those cooler temperatures. I'm talking about ANY of the precipitation...snow, freezing rain, sleet...I could do without that stuff. You can call me any name you want, talk about how much worse it is elsewhere, and you know what? I can take that. Because I know that I'll be just fine when those temps jump up in the triple-digit range.
I prefer it actually.
