Pickles!

I am a bit of a pickle man. I have shopped most of the local grocery brands but frequently hit stores that stock limited runs of pickles from all over. It's fun to get the later because you know that one jar may be your only chance to taste a regional or foreign pickle. I'll admit, some of the pickles are a challenge, but I've made it to the bottom of each and every jar, never throwing away a pickle in the process.

Preference

So let's get to the "type" of pickle I prefer so we can see if we're on the same page. I much prefer those that are labeled "dill" over the ones labeled "sweet" or "sour". I also prefer pickles that have that tasty little snap or crunchiness to them. I much as I envy you Texas theater goers who like a huge pickle with your movie, they are far too soggy for me.

Packed

I currently have my choice brand, a jar of sour, a jar of hamburger chips, and both dill and sweet relish in my refrigerator. That may not sound that unusual, but that's what my wife insisted was the limit after finding over ten open jars in there. I also want to say that one of the main reason for the love of pickles is a weird dietary routine that won't really allow me to eat anything too close to bedtime, and for some reason pickles never give me any problems.

And The Winner is...

So, my choice for the best pickle comes from Best Maid out of Mansfield, Texas. Best Maid has many different pickles to choice from and any jar will make you happy, but it's my belief that that absolute best pickle ever is Best Maid Fresh Pack Baby Dills.

The Taste

These crunchy little bits of green heaven and a little bit of red peppers in them just to give them a proper amount of zing. You can eat them by the dozen and they are never, ever soggy. They are best served chilled and on the side, though I've been known to cut up these teeny-tiny pickles to add some zip to some of my favorite dishes. Who knew that the tiniest of pickles would be the biggest and best anywhere?
