I would still expect Texas Tech to perform much better than they’re currently picked by CFBHome/FifthQuarter.net. The site listed Tech in a three-way tie for fourth, which effectively means they’re picked to place somewhere between 4th and 6th.

I’m certainly no sports expert, but this feels a little low for the Red Raiders. I could accept 4th as a preseason projection—but not 6th. Worse, it seems a little high for the projected 2nd-place finisher, Utah, who completely bit it last year.

I guess it’s up to you how much stock you want to put into preseason polls. Predicting favorites should be a simple mix of the previous year’s performance, players lost, and offseason moves. But now, you take all those elements, shake them up in the NIL can, and watch the results explode randomly.
I’m among those who feel like we have the right leadership in place. Now it comes down to coaching the players we were able to snag. If we have a couple of breaks fall our way, anything is possible for Texas Tech Football.
