Assistant principal, Candra Rogers, of Corsican ISD was left permanently blind in one eye following a vicious attack from an "irate" student at Collins Intermediate School. The student had already attacked a classmate when Rogers entered the classroom where she was met with flying chairs and struck in the eye with a hanger.

"The hanger hit me in my right eye and knocked it out of the socket. I grabbed my face while blood was pouring out of my head and stumbled out of the classroom door." Rogers told a local ABC affiliate.

She was flown to the hospital for immediate treatment following the incident and will need reconstructive surgery. Doctors also think there is a chance she might lose her right eye altogether.

The 11-year-old student responsible for the incident was taken into custody and will likely face the juvenile equivalent of an aggravated assault charge.

Candra Rogers has only been employed by CISD since last year, and so far, there is no word of when she will be returning to work.

Rogers went on to say, "We should never have to fear being in a classroom with an aggressive student. Everyone’s protection is paramount. Overly aggressive students need services to meet their needs, but I do not believe the safety of other students and the educational staff should suffer."
