Texas Attorney General Wastes Lubbock Court’s Time On Non-Issue
Texas politics have reached a new low.
Texas Attack
Attacking transgender people in Texas is apparently what the state is focused on right now. They don't seem overly concerned about any issue that really matters to Texans (taxes, the cost of gas, groceries, etc.). Nope, we're worried about spending money to make sure no men play in women's sports. Now, while I recognize that sports are very important to some of you, but ultimately they mean nothing.

The Case
The Texas Attorney General's Office ended up in a Lubbock courtroom trying to force the NCAA to gender test athletes. In what was absolutely a performative suit that failed, they were trying to delay women's tournaments until genetic testing was instituted. The State wanted to claim the NCAA was "deceiving consumers" by claiming these were women's sports unless it was proven they were women. As for their part, the NCAA already people play in the sport assigned by their birth certificate.
Is This What You Want?
I have to ask you readers a question; is this really how you want Texas to spend your tax dollars, on junk lawsuits like this? This is an actual clownshow of epic proportions. How long are we going to tolerate nonsense like this? Out of a half million college athletes, there are ten that are transgender. That's 1 in 50,000. Who cares? I'm sure there are politicians who have convinced you that this is one of the most important issues of all time, but I challenge you to find a way in which this impacts your life.
You'll Pay For This
This issue gets the bandwidth it does not out of fairness for the other athletes because statistically no transgender athlete is walking away with medals they don't deserve. This is an issue because this is who the State of Texas is currently kicking down on. Now think of this, if the NCAA had to gender test every athlete, that would be passed along to you in the form of higher ticket prices, so how does that benefit you as a consumer? I'm glad this was thrown out of court and the fact that it was thrown out in the ultra-conservative area of Lubbock, should make it twice as embarrassing for the Texas Attorney General.
