Texas customers may seen an additional charge for eggs in some places, while others will hold the line.

Texas Egg Prices

The price of eggs is starting to go down, but we still want to give props to those businesses that decided to "suck it up" and not charge extra for eggs. Some places actually added an "egg surcharge" which feels a little punitive. Though prices went through the roof and all the way into space, we all know that this was a very temporary thing and feel like our loyalty should have been rewarded by not incurring an additional charge.

Business Upcharges

Let's keep this pretty simple; a large business/corporation can weather these costs a lot easier than your local mom and pop restaurant. I completely understand how bad supply costs can hurt smaller places, so we're excusing them from this discussion. As for the bigger places, we know they have better supply lines and in some cases their own farms to get these products.

Not Raising Prices

USA Today came out with a list of places that are not adding an egg surcharge and reminding us of those who do. Simply put, in Texas, you don't have to worry about McDonalds, Wendy's, or Starbucks charging you extra. Even more importanly, Texas favorite Cracker Barrel is weathering the costs as well with no up charges.

Don't Crack Up Just Yet

Inflated egg prices are a temporary thing best overcome by just using less for a short period of time. It was not that long ago that my favorite supermarket was giving away a dozen eggs as a "loyalty bonus". I firmly expect those days to return before you know it, and we'll look back at the "egg panic" as being just as ridiculous as toilet paper hoarding was during the pandemic.

Most Remaining Fuddruckers Are In Texas, Here's Where To Find Them

Fuddruckers began in San Antonio in 1979. At its height in the late 90s, there were 150 Fuddruckers locations. Now only 54 remain, with 6 of those in the dubious state of "temporarily" closed.
