
Manhunt Underway For Escaped Inmate From Texas Psychiatric Hospital
AUSTIN, Texas - Authorities in Texas are searching for an inmate who escaped a psychiatric hospital while on hold. Not only is the man a registered sex offender, but he is also considered armed and dangerous.
What We Know
McArthur Mathis was taken to the Cross Creek Psychiatric and Addiction Hospital last Wednesday after being in custody in Grimes County since an arrest for multiple warrants back in January.
Mathis kicked the back door open and jumped over a 6-foot fence to escape the facility and is now on the run. He is wanted for a slew of offenses, including unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, deadly conduct, burglary of a habitation, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious injury to a family member.

Authorities say Mathis has known contacts in Grimes, Brazos, Lavaca, and Gonzalez counties. If you are in one of those counties, please stay especially alert to your surroundings.
