Yes, You Can Celebrate Krampusnacht In Lubbock This Weekend
Gruss vom Krampus!
Tonight (12/5/24) is Krampusnacht (Krampus night), a tradition that precedes the Feast of St. Nicholas on December 6th.
In many ways, the Krampus acts as Santa's shadow- while Santa concerns himself with providing for good children, the Krampus brings the bad kids "der Rute," that is, the rod.
Watch your behind!
The folklore behind the Krampus is spread across much of Europe- from Austria to Northern Italy, from Romania to Croatia and other countries.
While his roots are likely pagan, he (like mistletoe and Christmas trees) has been adopted into Christmas celebrations.
Want to meet the Krampus and attempt to explain yourself? You can do that here in Lubbock!
The Krampus (who is crazy tall) will make appearances at Nightmare on 19th Street's first-ever "Nightmare Before Xmas" Event.
With a name like "Nightmare," the people have demanded a "before Christmas" event and they are making it happen this Saturday, December 7th.
All four haunted houses will be open and full of both Nightmare's incredibly talented actors and guest actors from The Blackness in Plainview.
Krampus will make appearances for photo ops and for those who want to defend their actions this year. There will also be a scary Santa and other fun characters and photo ops, including a spooky Christmas tree.
Why is Nightmare celebrating Krampusnacht? Because Nightmare loves Krampus. The 3D attraction has been dedicated to him for years.
However, next October that area will be flipped to a new theme, so this will be one of your last chances to enjoy it.
See you Saturday!
