An outrageously cute 5-month-old kitten is looking for a permanent home after losing her "home" at the Pioneer Memorial Library in Fredericksburg, Texas.

Why Can't Pepper Live At The Pioneer Library?

Even though I am mildly allergic to cats, I still own three and I love to see them in public places like book stores and bodegas. However, it was ruled that Pepper could not remain at the public library.

News 19 emailed the judge who banned Pepper and received a lengthy response about how the cat was to be removed because it had not gotten pre-authorization to be there.

Here is an excerpt from the response:

...until said approval is sought [..]no cat has been or will be authorized to be housed in the County Library. For further comments on the library cat [...] perhaps Pepper the cat is available to provide its perspective on the matter.

Okay, I'll be sure to ask Pepper why she didn't file the appropriate paperwork or whatever. Does anyone have her email?

Fredericksburg Fights Back For Pepper

A Change.org petition that sought to save Pepper's position at the library has received nearly 10,000 signatures.

Pepper is not just a cat; she's become an essential part of our community. She provides companionship to library goers, fosters a welcoming environment, and encourages younger visitors to engage with the library.

However, since the judge's ruling, Pepper is now housed with Hill County SPCA, which has posted the following update on Facebook:

In short, Pepper is now looking for a forever home, with many folks in the comments saying that they have submitted applications to make this cute calico a part of their family.

Is It Difficult To Own A Visually Impaired Cat?

As you can see, Pepper appears to have a bit of a vision problem with her insanely cute crossed eyes.

I have a cat with a vision impairment- he has scar tissue from a serious illness he experienced as a kitten before I rescued him. I was deeply worried I would have problems keeping him safe and keeping him clean.

In short, he is totally fine and just as capable as my other cats at causing mischief and giving me different reasons to worry about him. It certainly doesn't prevent him from getting into my cabinets.

Rescue animals are extraordinarily loving, and the experience is beyond rewarding. And the "wonky" ones are even better. Here's my Andre:
