A not-yet-identified species of cat has been seen wandering the streets in Bexar County. Residents have been warned to keep their pets and children close and to keep their eyes open for a BIG and potentially dangerous kitty cat.

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook that a resident reported what they believed to be a "big long-tailed dark-colored cat" behind their home Monday. Deputies were sent out to the 10400 block of Foxen Way, not far from Scenic Loop Road and Bandera. Unfortunately, they weren't able to locate the big cat.

According to MySanAntonio, mountain lions have been seen in Bexar County, but the last confirmed sighting was back in 2013 in the Stone Oak area. That mountain lion was seen roaming near an elementary school and a middle school, which is frightening. On record, there have only been 3 confirmed sightings of mountain lions in that area since 1982.

The public is urged not to approach or try to touch the big cat if you spot it! Keep your eyes on it and call the Bexar County Sheriff's Office at 210-335-6000 so they can come out and safely remove it.

It's also probably not a great time to let your small kids play unsupervised outside, so stay vigilant!

Have you seen a big cat walking around Bexar County? Do you think it's a bobcat or just a fat house cat? I'd love to hear from you! Feel free to comment on this article or email me at Chrissy.Covington@townsquaremedia.com.
