Dreaming of Sunshine: Will Lubbock Finally Warm Up?
I know, it's not "that cold", but some of us are ready for it to be warm.
It's Cool But Not Cold
Temperatures right now are not that bad. Then again, add a little wind to these temperatures and it can get real chilly, real fast. Being uncomfortable isn't the only concern because heating and cooling costs can really impact a budget too. In Lubbock we pretty much live in extremes, with only a few patches of what I'd call "mild" weather in the middle.
What's Warm?
So how do we define "warm"? Well, the best guess is around 68 to 70. I would say that a lot of people heat and/or cool thier house to around those temperatures (at least if they can afford it). If you agree with me on these figures, then I have some very good news for you. Historically Lubbock hits consistent upper 60's early 70's around the third week of March. That would be what we would call Lubbock's "climate" pattern. As far was "weather", we're going to see some of that much sooner.
This Weekend!
As luck would have it, just when personally started saying, "enough", this weekend we'll hit the target mentioned earlier. Friday we should come in at about 65, but right now Saturday is predicted to be a perfect 71 degrees. Now, before you get to hung up on the idea of a "perfect day", the wind will be blowing at 18 miles an hour.
And There's More!
You might have better luck enjoy Sunday when the temperature should hit 76 with lighter winds, or Monday when the winds are at their lightest at 11 miles an hour with a high of 72. We will then fall back down into the 60's for the rest of the week. I would remind everyone that all of this could be temporary and we may not be out of the woods as far as cold weather goes just yet.
