Babies Found Lying on Texas Sidewalk During Snow Storm
31-year-old Aryana McClinton of Harris County is facing charges of child endangerment after her 2-month-old and 1-year-old babies were found lying on the sidewalk with her.
Police found McClinton visibly intoxicated, with an open container of alcohol nearby.
It was only 28 degrees outside when police responded to the 911 call about the babies and their mother yesterday, January 21st, 2025, during a winter snowstorm that dropped between 2 and 4 inches of snow on the city. A good samaritan driving by spotted them and called the police.
First responders treated both children for cold-related injuries. So far, there are no reports on the condition of the mother.
Thousands of people die from cold-related injuries in the United States every year. In 2022, 3,571 people died from the cold, a 109% increase in cold-related deaths from 1999. The majority of deaths are due to homelessness, social isolation, and substance abuse.
If you are struggling with homelessness, especially during these terribly cold weeks, please find a way to get to the nearest shelter or warming zone in your city. You can find a list of seasonal relief centers in Texas by clicking here.
It's also important to remember that children have no choice when it comes to where they sleep at night. If you know someone struggling to keep their children warm, do the right thing and contact your local authorities for assistance. A phone call could mean the difference between life and death for an innocent child.
