Neighbor’s 911 Call Leads to Four Juvenile Arrests in Texarkana

Here is a perfect example where, if you see something, say something. A quick call to 911 from a concerned neighbor this past Tuesday morning (August 11) led to the arrest of four juveniles and the recovery of 18 pairs of shoes, according to the Texarkana Texas Police Department.

TTPD posted on their Facebook page that around 9:30 AM, a call came in near College Drive and Tanglewood Street in Texarkana. They called police after seeing several juveniles come out of a neighbor’s garage, close the door and run from the area.

When the call came in, Officer Rayveun Blakely was close to the area and he spotted the group as they crossed Richmond Road and ran toward an apartment complex on Nichols Drive. As soon as the teens saw the officer, they split up.

Officer Gives Chase, Others Located Nearby

Officer Blakely chased one of them, who attempted to jump a fence, but luckily he fell while trying to get over it. The juvenile was taken into custody behind a home on Shady Lane. The officers at the scene found the other three juveniles inside the apartment complex.

When officers returned to the home, they could see empty shoe boxes scattered throughout the garage. They could also hear an alarm going off inside the house. Although they were unable to enter the garage at the time, they could see enough to know something was not right.

Texarkana Officers Recover 18 Pairs of Shoes

Several pairs of brand-new, high-dollar shoes, including Nike Air Jordans, were found inside backpacks the juveniles had been carrying. In all? Officers found 18 pairs of shoes!

Now here is the sad part... their ages. Four juveniles- two 14-year-olds, a 15-year-old, and a 16-year-old. They were all arrested and charged with Burglary of a Habitation. The 15-year-old who ran from Officer Blakely was also charged with Evading Detention.

The juveniles were taken to the Juvenile Detention Center and turned over to juvenile authorities.

Here is a big reminder. If you see something suspicious, call the police. They can come and check things out. That neighbor trusted their gut and called 911. The neighbor was also able to give the police a great description, which helped the police locate the suspects, arrest them and solve this crime fast!
