A Flash Flood Warning Has Been Issued for Parts of East Texas

A Flash Flood Warning has been issued until 2:15 a.m. for the following counties in Deep East Texas:

• Central Sabine
• Eastern Nacogdoches
• Northern San Augustine
• Southern Shelby

A large area of showers and thunderstorms has developed and remained stationary over the specific areas mentioned above. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen in the warned area.

Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible over the next several hours.

Flash flooding has already been reported across much of this region between Nacogdoches and Toledo Bend Reservoir. Small creeks and streams, along with some streets and underpasses, are experiencing flooding.

Never drive into water-covered roadways, especially at night. Remember...turn around, don't drown.

Some areas that are reporting flash flooding or that may soon experience flash flooding include Milam, San Augustine, Hemphill, Rosevine, Patroon, Bland Lake, Neuville, Martinsville, Sexton, Jordans Store, Hurstown, Calgary, Columbus, Jericho, Negreet, and Arcardia.

This storm system is dropping heavy rainfall, but only over a very focused area of the Deep East Texas lakes region. These cells will continue to drop downpours over the next hour or so, but it is expected to diminish in intensity as the late night continues.

More showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast for the remainder of the week for the Pineywoods. This warned area will be susceptible to more flash flooding if more moderate to heavy rainfall occurs in the region.
