On Monday night the 2019 MLB Draft began with 78 total players hearing their names called. The Houston Astros held two draft picks on Monday night and used both selections on two of the most important positions in the field.

With the 32nd pick in the 2019 MLB Draft, the Houston Astros selected catcher Korey Lee from Cal. He put up a batting average of .338, a .419 on-base percentage, and a .626 slugging percentage in 2019.

Then with the 68th pick in the second round the Astros took SS Grae Kessinger from Ole Miss.

During his freshman year for Ole Miss, Kessinger hit .175/.287/.247 in 189 plate appearances then improved greatly as a sophomore in the hitting department, posting a line of .300/.389/.473 with eight homers as the starting shortstop.
