West Virginia has come to terms with football coach Dana Holgorsen on a new six year deal, locking Holgersen up through the 2017 season.

Holgorsen guided the Mountaineers to a 10-3 record (5-2 Big East) in his first season as head coach. West Virginia capped its season with a 70-33 rout of Clemson in the Orange Bowl.

The Mountaineers are making the move into the Big 12 this upcoming season.

Holgorsen will earn $2.3 million this season under the new deal. The second-year coach will receive annual raises of $200,000 in the second and third years and $100,000 in the fourth and fifth years.

The agreement also includes performance incentives, including for team academic achievements, regular season victories, conference titles and postseason bowl appearances.

West Virginia Athletic director Oliver Luck say’s Holgorsen’s contract is in line with salaries of other Big 12 and major college coaches’ salaries.
