The Texas Rangers continue to hold on to the best record in the American League after beating the Tampa Bay Rays 6-5 last night at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

Adrian Beltre and Nelson Cruz provided the Rangers with the bulk of their offense in the win. Beltre went 3 for 4 with a single, double and home run. He also drew a walk and had 4 RBI. Cruz also hit a solo homer, his 21st of the season.

Rangers starter Derek Holland outlasted David Price by two innings and he picked up his 9th win of the season.  The usually strong Price only pitched four innings for the Rays. He gave up six runs on 10 hits and only struck out 3.

Joe Nathan pitched the ninth to earn his 26th save for Texas.

The Rangers record is now (76-52) and they have a 5.5 game lead over the Oakland A's in the AL West.
