The Red Raider volleyball squad’s 2012 season officially began Tuesday evening when the team reported for a team dinner and a series of meetings at the United Spirit Arena.

Texas Tech is coming off a 15-17 record under first year head coach Don Flora.

"We are excited that the 2012 season is finally upon us," Flora said. "We had a great first meeting, and I'm excited to begin working in the gym tomorrow morning. We have several familiar faces back to go along with several newcomers, so it should be a competitive fall camp."

The Red Raiders return nine letterwinners from last year’s team while adding 11 newcomers and two players that redshirted in 2011.

Texas Tech opens the 2012 season Aug. 24 against Fordham at the Boston College Invitational. Tech will also face Binghamton, Siena, and the host Eagles during opening weekend.
