Texas Tech Red Raider offensive lineman Lonnie Edwards has been named to the 42nd Rotary Lombardi Award watch list.

Edwards, a senior from Brownboro, Texas, is 6-foot-4 and weighs 322 pounds. Edwards was a second-team all-Big 12 honoree last year. Edwards has started in 32 games for the Red Raiders and will be the starting left guard this season.

Eligibility for the Rotary Lombardi Award is limited to down linemen, either on offense or defense. The lineman must line up no farther than 10 yards to the left or right of the ball. Linebackers who set up no farther than five yards deep from the line of scrimmage. All candidates also must be eligible to play college sports under the rules and regulations of the NCAA.

The award was established in 1970 by the Rotary Club of Houston in memory of Vince Lombardi.

The Rotary Lombardi Award trophy is made from 40 lbs. of Texas pink granite chiseled to resemble the stance of a lineman.

Defensive lineman Nick Fairley of Auburn won the award last year.

This is Edwards second watch list of the preseason as he was named to the Outland Trophy watch list last week.
