Chynna Brown scored 19 points in her first start of the season and the Texas Tech Lady Raiders defeated the Iowa State Lady Cyclones 51-41 Sunday afternoon in snowy Lubbock, Texas. The Lady Raiders used a smothering defense holding ISU to 13 of 48 shooting  (27%) and only 41 points, a season low.

Texas Tech (17-7, 5-7 Big 12) had a similar shooting performance shooting 19 of 60 from the floor for 31%, but capitalized on 13 turnovers and winning the rebounding edge 36 to 35. Shauntel Nobles stepped in for Kierra Mallard on the block after her knee injury the action and chipped in scoring 7 points and grabbing 8 rebounds for the Lady Raiders. ISU (14-10, 4-8 Big 12) were led in scoring by Chelsea Poppins with 12 points, but she fouled out late in the game.

Texas Tech was promoting "Play 4 Kay" in supporting the Kay Yow Cancer Fund in the fight against Breast Cancer. The Lady Raiders take to the court next on Wednesday night in Austin taking on the Lady Longhorns.
