Texas Tech Basketball has an open roster spot for their 2013-2014 after a star freshman announced his departure to leave the program.

Freshman guard Josh Gray is transferring to a different school, the 19-year old announced on Twitter last night. Gray averaged 9.6 points per game with 3.3 assists a game with 3 turnovers a game for the 11-20 Red Raiders.

My family and I decided that I will be transferring. Thanks again for everything can't explain how wonderful the experience was.

The departure comes three weeks after the hiring of Tubby Smith to turn around the Red Raider program which has had four losing seasons in the past five years.

Smith is also the fourth Head Coach in Lubbock in as many seasons with the firing of Pat Knight in 2011, the firing of Billy Gillispie after allegations of player mistreatment surfaced in 2012, and the hiring of Smith to replace interim Head Coach Chris Walker.
