Duke von Schamann pitched three innings giving up a run on two hits with a strikeout in leading Texas Tech to 8-2 victory over the Michigan Wolverines Tuesday night.

Nick Popescu led the Red Raiders at the plate going 3-for-5 with 3 RBI and 2 doubles as Tech raced out to 5-0 lead in the 1st inning after 6 days off for final exams. Tech became the first active Big 12 Conference member to play at Michigan in a baseball series during the regular season.

Texas Tech (29-20) surpasses its win total from last season while Michigan falls to 15-32 overall. Game 2 of their mid-week series is tonight at 5:05 p.m. with coverage on the Big Ten Network.
