Adrian Beltre and David Murphy homered as the Texas Rangers raced out to a 12-1 lead over the Houston Astros after six innings and held on for a 12-7 win.

The Rangers swept the three-game series from the Astros to improve to 24-13 on the season while Houston falls to 10-28.

Nick Tepesch threw six solid innings on the mound for the Rangers giving up just one run on four hits while striking out eight batters.

The Astros got homers from Chris Carter, Brandon Barnes and Jason Castro to try and rally after scoring four runs off Rangers reliever Derek Lowe.

Texas heads west to face the 2nd place Oakland Athletics for a three-game series. The Rangers send right-hander Justin Grimm to the mound opposite of A’s thrower AJ Griffin. First pitch tonight is set for 9:05.

The Houston Astros hit the road as well. Houston starts a six-game road trip to Detroit and Pittsburgh. First pitch tonight in Detroit is set for 6:08 p.m.
