Texas Rangers Pitching Falls Apart in 7th Inning to Lose Series to Minnesota Twins
The Texas Rangers lost yesterday to the Minnesota Twins, 6-1.
Francisco Liriano pitched a near no hitter against the Rangers keeping the Rangers off the scoreboard till the 8th inning and nearly had a perfect game. Infielder Luke Hughes fumbled an easy ground out that allowed Elvis Andrus to get their first hit and ruin the perfect game in the 7th. Liriano finished his 8 innings with 9 K's
Matt Harrison was on the mound for the Rangers and was having a great game of his own. Harrison went 7 innings giving up 1 earned run and keeping the Rangers in the game until a line drive struck him in his pitching arm causing him to leave the game. Reliever Mark Lowe struggled when he came in giving up 4 earned runs in the bottom of the 7th only going 2/3rds of an inning.
Yorvit Torrealba ruined the shut out for the Twins hitting a deep single to center to score Adrian Beltre. Torrealba and Beltre were the only 2 hits for the Rangers.
The Rangers have the day off before heading up to New York to start a 3 game series against the Yankees Tuesday night.
