Alexi Ogando continued the Texas Rangers spectacular pitching as the Rangers blew out the Angels with a 7-0 shut out.  We know it can't last forever but the Rangers pitching staff shows no signs of slowing down. Ogando continued what has been a unprecedented 12 game win streak for the Rangers that includes 4 shut outs. The Rangers have outscored their opponents 77-24 during this win streak. They also need to win 2 more games to tie the franchises all-time win streak of 14 set in 1991.

Ogando pitched 8 innings of four hit ball for the Rangers. Ogando has now won 3 straight starts and his first since July 6th. He had a total of 5 K's in the game, including 3 on Angel outfielder Torri Hunter. During his last 3 wins he has lowered his ERA to 2.72.

It was a good day for Ranger bats as Josh Hamilton led all Rangers with 3 hits and a solo home run in the 9th.

Adrian Beltre started the scoring for the Rangers early in the 1st inning. Beltre doubled to score Hamilton and give the Rangers a 1-0. Beltre would go on to lead the Rangers in scoring with 3 RBI's during the game.  It was a scoreless affair afterward till the 4th when Ian Kinsler continued his hot hitting with a RBI single to score Mike Napoli. Michael Young kept things going in the 5th with another Ranger RBI single to score Elvis Andrus; pushing it to a 3-0 Ranger lead heading into the 6th.

The Rangers were done with the small ball after Young's single. Endy Chavez hit a 2 run bomb in the 8th and Hamilton and Beltre both hit solo shots over the fence in the 9th round out the Ranger scoring. Nelson Cruz and Andrus were the only Rangers not to record a hit.

Rangers owner and GM Nolan Ryan was scheduled to throw out the first pitch of the game to honor Angel owner Gene Autry and his induction into the Angels Hall of Fame posthumously but Ryan has been safely resting at home after undergoing tests on his heart at a Houston hospital.
