The John Copeland-era came to an end yesterday at Lubbock Christian University, as the LCU Men lost to Rogers State 104-103 in triple overtime at first round of the SAC Basketball Tournament.  Forward Kenny Hewitt led the Chaps with 31 points in the triple overtime thriller.

Meanwhile, the LCU Lady Chaps beat Wayland Baptist 94 to 76 yesterday in the first round of the SAC Basketball Tournament.  Courtney Wilson led the Lady Chaps with 16 points.  The LCU Lady Chaps play Southern Nazarene later today at 1 o’clock in a game you can hear on 1340 The Fan.

Yesterday, in Major League Baseball Spring Training games: the Rangers won both of their split-squad games, beating the Indians 11 to 9 and the Cubs 8 to 7.  In the game against the Indians, Neftali Feliz started the game and pitched 2 scoreless innings.   And the Astros beat the Marlins 5 to 3.  Nelson Figueroa started for the ‘Stros and pitched 2 scoreless innings.

Texas Tech Red Raider Baseball starts a crucial 3-game non-conference series against TCU tonight at Dan Law Field.  Today’s game is at 5:30 and features a pitching matchup of Kyle Winkler for TCU and lefty Daniel Coulombe for the Red Raiders.  Also, Saturday’s game is at 5 and Sunday’s game is at 1 o’clock

Tonight, in high school basketball playoff action, the Estacado Matadors play Burkburnett 7 o’clock at the USA, in the Class 3A Region 1 Semifinal.  If the Matadors win tonight, they play again tomorrow night at 7:30 in the Class 3A Region 1 Final.  In a Class 2A Region 1 Semifinal, Idalou’s boys play against Hico at 6 o’clock at Midland College tonight.  If they win, they will play again tomorrow at 1 o’clock in the Class 2A Region 1 Final.

Texas Tech Softball and their undefeated 16 game-winning streak host the Red Raider Classic this weekend at Rocky Johnson Field.  Today’s Red Raider games are at 1 and 3 o’clock against Howard and Dayton.  Games also take place tomorrow and Sunday.

Just two games on the NBA schedule last night:  The Magic beat the Heat 99 to 96 and the Nuggets edged out the Jazz 103 to 101.  Tonight, the Mavericks host the Pacers and the Spurs host the Heat.
