During a special meeting on Monday, February 8th, the Lubbock-Cooper ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved a $420 million bond proposal and called for a May election.

This proposal includes a 2nd high school campus, a 3rd middle school campus, a 6th elementary school campus and renovation projects at the existing campuses. Also included are HVAC and roofing improvements along with athletic additions to existing campuses.

This proposal comes following a rising student enrollment and a projected enrollment increase of over 3,2000 students by the end of the decade.

LCISD Superintended Keith Bryant said:

Lubbock-Cooper is the fastest growing school district in our region, and one of the fastest growing school districts in the state [...] This proposal was carefully developed to address current and future enrollment. Our growth is a direct reflection of the high quality education provided by LCISD teachers and the welcoming, family-oriented Lubbock-Cooper community. We aim to maintain this culture while accommodating every student and family who wishes to be a part of it.

Residents living within the Lubbock-Cooper ISD boundaries will be able to vote on this bond April 19th through the 27th for early voting and on Election Day, May 1st.

The proposed bond will not require an increase in the property tax rate.
