To go along with the news of Texas Tech being ranked no. 8 in the nation by The AP, Keenan Evans was awarded another Big 12 Player of the Week honor by the conference Monday morning (Jan. 8).

Evans joins Cory Carr and Andre Emmett as the only Texas Tech players to win the award multiple times in a single season.

Evans averaged 21 points, 4 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals in his last two outings against Kansas and Kansas State. He was especially effective from the free throw line in both contests, combining to go 20-22 from the charity stripe. Against Kansas State, Evans was at his best late in the game, scoring 16 of his 27 points in the second half to seal the victory.

The next two games for the no. 8 Red Raiders will be arguably the toughest of the entire season.

It all starts on Tuesday evening when they travel to Norman, Oklahoma to take on Trae Young and the no. 9 Sooners. That game will be at 6 p.m. and will be televised by ESPNU. Then, Tech comes home and hosts the newly ranked no. 2 West Virginia Mountaineers on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1 p.m. at the United Supermarkets Arena. Television coverage of that will be carried by ESPN.
