Houston Texans Place CB Brice McCain on IR

The Houston Texans placed cornerback Brice McCain on injured reserve with a designation to return.

McCain broke his left foot in Sunday’s win over AFC South rival Tennessee, and has since undergone surgery to repair the fracture.

Under the designation to return tag, McCain would be eligible to resume practice in six weeks and be placed back on the active roast in eight weeks, meaning Houston would have to reach the Super Bowl in order for him to play.

The University of Houston product rout spent the first seven years of his career with the Oakland Raiders, and had 21 tackles and two interceptions in seven games for Kansas City this season before the Chiefs released him in early November.

In 117 career games Routt’s recorded 258 tackles, 12 interceptions and two sacks.
